Hail Damage denied
Overpriced for car insurance
Local staff is OK, corporate staff is an absolute nightmare.
The staff at Chris Palmer’s State Farm office were professional, but our experience when we needed help with a major hail damage claim was extremely disappointing.
After paying thousands of dollars in premiums over the years, we felt there was very little guidance or support in helping us navigate the claim. We had to do much of the follow-up ourselves, and the claim ultimately resulted in no payment.
We found our homeowners and auto insurance through State Farm to be very expensive compared with other options available to us. After this experience, we canceled our policies and switched our homeowners insurance to Amica and our auto insurance to Progressive.
Our experience with Progressive was completely different. They handled nearly $6,000 in hail damage to our vehicle from the same storm, the process was straightforward, and our premium did not increase as a result of that claim.
A family member also shared a very poor experience with State Farm, which only reinforced our decision.
Never again. This was our first and last time with State Farm Insurance."

That said, claim decisions are made based on the facts documented during the inspection and the terms of your policy. When coverage questions arise, we always aim to communicate what information we have, what’s needed to move the claim forward, and why a final determination is made. We regret that you felt you had to do much of the follow-up yourself and that the outcome was not resolved in a way that met your expectations.
Regarding pricing, premiums are set based on risk and rating factors specific to each policy and household, which can differ from carrier to carrier and from year to year.

"I just switched to State Farm and so far, they’ve been pretty great! The workers at this office are really nice and really patient. Sam was really helpful, she answered all of my questions thoroughly, made sure I got everything that I wanted and needed for my car insurance. "I have never had as many problems as I have had with them. They are extremely rude. Talk to Liz and she is the rudest one there. They put incorrect information on my policy and Liz proceeded to say I lied and will not fix the mistake SHE made. Go to any other State Farm BUT this one!!"
